At ZERO TO THREE, we embrace the changing portrait of our nation’s babies and their families and are working to ensure all babies and toddlers have a strong start in life.

Nearly 52% of America’s infants and toddlers are children of color.

Supporting Black and Brown families in early childhood is critical to dismantling systemic inequities that limit their children’s well-being and future opportunities.

Black and Brown children face disparities in access to quality child care, economic security, and education. Without targeted support, structural racism continues to impact their outcomes from birth. Supporting Black and Brown representation in early childhood roles is essential, as diverse professionals bring valuable insights and foster equitable, nurturing environments for all children.

At its core, equity in early childhood means that children in any space have the same opportunities regardless of their race, location, physical or mental abilities, income or background.
