ZERO TO THREE Condemns Hate Against the Asian American and Pacific Islander Community

Matthew Melmed, executive director of ZERO TO THREE, issued the following statement after Tuesday’s horrific attacks against Asian women in Atlanta:

WASHINGTON — “Every baby deserves a strong start in life. And every baby – and their loved ones – deserves to live in a world free of hatred and violence.

“ZERO TO THREE condemns the racist and xenophobic attacks against the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community in Atlanta this week and throughout the country. The devastation of this violence is worsened by what underlies it – hate, anti-Asian discrimination, and misogyny. We do what we do at ZERO TO THREE because we want all our babies and toddlers to thrive. Each and every one of us must be there for one another to reject every form of hatred and to stand for racial justice and equity. Only then will we be able to build the world that our children need and deserve.”
