Ayanna Harrison serves as Director of Policy Operations for ZERO TO THREE’s Policy Center. She is responsible for creating, optimizing, and maintaining sustainable systems to ensure the organizational effectiveness and efficiency of the Policy Center. Her role has oversight over all operational aspects of the Policy Center including strategic planning, revenue and expense monitoring, project and operations management, and the proposal and grant writing/review process.

Ayanna is a results-driven, impactful, people- and community-focused operations professional with 15 years of experience in the public sector, higher education, non-profits, and international organizations. Prior to joining ZERO TO THREE, Ayanna served as the Deputy Director of the University of the District of Columbia’s Community College. In this role, she was charged with working in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders to set and implement a strategic plan for the Community College as well as facilitating workshops for leadership, staff, and faculty on planning and reporting processes. She worked closely with senior leadership, faculty, and staff to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness, advance institutional research, and support the Chief Community College Officer with college-based planning, development, and implementation and evaluation of educational programming and policy. Her experience also includes leadership/operational roles at George Mason University, The Urban Institute, UNICEF, UN Women, UN Development Programme, and the District Attorney of New York. In previous roles, she specialized in the areas of strategic planning, program/project management, logistics, knowledge management, policy, procurement, contract administration, finance, quality assurance, and human capital management.

Ayanna completed her Bachelor of Science degree at Howard University in Psychology and Sociology. She also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Villanova University. Ayanna enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, fitness, traveling, and music.
