First Three Co-Founder , Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc.

Dr. Jeffrey Holzberg is a community pediatrician at Chiricahua Community Health Centers, Inc. (CCHCI). CCHCI is the county’s only federally qualified health center, sharing 100 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border in southeastern Arizona. Dr. Holzberg works in Douglas, a small rural town adjacent to the border with Mexico, where children face higher rates of speech delay and lower rates of school-readiness than the rest of the county and state.

Dr. Holzberg co-founded First Three, an initiative designed to bring the neuroscience of early childhood development into the lives of families with newborns. First Three restructures well-child visits to include an innovative curriculum that supports pediatricians in their conversations with parents around neurodevelopment and healthy parenting behaviors.

Dr. Holzberg helped establish CCHCI’s first research department and oversees a variety of IRB-approved projects and grants. He believes pediatric medical clinics are uniquely situated to address the health and developmental issues of the most vulnerable and is passionate about community programs that “meet families at their doorstep.”

Dr. Holzberg received his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Clinical Research from Emory University. He did his pediatric residency at University of Colorado/Children’s Hospital Colorado. Prior to medical school, Jeffrey lived for one year in rural India.
