Rebecca Parlakian is ZERO TO THREE's Senior Director of Programs and develops resources for parents, alongside training of parents and early childhood professionals.
In her role, Rebecca develops resources, like apps, web-based resources, DVDs, and more, for parents, and trains parents and early childhood professionals.
Rebecca has co-authored three parenting education curricula and has published articles on topics ranging from dual language development to best practices for building relationships with families. She co-authored From Baby to Big Kid, ZERO TO THREE’s first age-based monthly e-newsletter for parents; co-produced ZERO TO THREE’s first podcast series; co-developed ZERO TO THREE’s video series Magic of Everyday Moments; and led the creation of ZERO TO THREE’s first smartphone app, Let’s Play.
Rebecca holds a Master’s degree in Education and Human Development, with a concentration in infant-toddler special education, from the George Washington University, where she is currently serving as adjunct faculty. Her most important and most satisfying lab work in child development, however, is her two children, Ella (age 13) and Bennett (age 10). They help her remember that parenting is hard, but also lots of fun, and – most importantly – that the best-thought-out, well-planned, and research-based parenting approach almost never works on your own children.
