This session will help participants understand the Safe Babies Court Team (SBCT) rationale and approach as well as engage in conversations around working together to build a family-friendly child welfare system.
The Safe Babies Court Team (SBCT) approach is focused on helping infants and toddlers in foster care reach safe permanent homes as quickly as possible. The 10 core components represent steps that communities can take to build the multi-disciplinary teams required to improve the child welfare system’s responsiveness to infants and toddlers in foster care. The core components are practical actions that address the developmental needs of infants and toddlers. Specific strategies include concurrent planning from the moment a child is placed in foster care, monthly court hearings, and frequent family contact. Participants will understand the SBCT rationale and approach as well as engage in conversations around working together to build a family-friendly child welfare system.
