Blacks, boys, and especially black boys, are at the greatest risk for losing their early care and education placement due to expulsions and suspensions. Black children and families are the least likely to gain access to the high-quality care and education that will help them achieve success throughout their lives. Although many factors, such as community stressors and poorly resourced programs, may contribute to these disparities, evidence also suggests that implicit biases based on race and gender may also contribute. Join us for an exploration of these disparities in access and ways to address them.
