ZERO TO THREE Milestone: 40th Anniversary

40 years of working with Professionals, Parents and Policymakers to advance connections and strong starts for infants, toddlers and their families.

This year marks a milestone for ZERO TO THREE – 40 years of building connections to improve the lives of infants, toddlers and their families.

We are proud of the work we do to transform the science of early childhood into helpful resources, practical tools and responsive policies for millions of parents, professionals and policymakers. Since ZERO TO THREE’s founding in 1977, we have seen the birth of 150 million babies in the U.S. Our unique approach to child development has helped make a positive difference in countless lives.

ZERO TO THREE helps all parents seeking information and support on early development. We also address the needs of special populations, such as helping veterans and active duty service members build nurturing and stronger relationships with their babies and toddlers, and addressing the needs of abused and neglected babies in the child welfare system.

The science is clear that our brains grow faster between the ages of 0 and 3 than at any later point in our lives. When babies don’t get what their growing brains need during this crucial time, it can lead to life-long developmental, educational, social, and health challenges.

As a membership organization, we build community capacity by supporting professionals who work with babies and families – from child care providers to pediatricians – and the policymakers who draft the legislation and provide the funding that makes their work possible. ZERO TO THREE is about making connections that strengthen families, improving the lives of babies and toddlers, and ensuring all children get a healthy start in life.
