ZERO TO THREE is thrilled to launch our Trainer Certification program. The certifications formally recognize trainers who are dedicated to supporting infants, toddlers, and their families, and prepared and approved to deliver ZERO TO THREE curricula.

ZERO TO THREE’s trainer certifications:

  • Build on adult education standards and trainer approval systems
  • Advance trainers’ career options and ongoing professional development
  • Create a dynamic network of adult development peers across the nation and the globe
  • Increase capacity to offer, and quality of infant- and toddler-focused professional development

Certified Trainer: Critical Competencies

ZERO TO THREE congratulates our inaugural classes of provisionally Certified Trainers: Critical Competencies in Ohio and Pennsylvania (pictured) and the soon-to-be certified cohort in Arkansas!

These trainers successfully completed all of the provisional certification requirements, including the 5-part training-of-trainers series, knowledge assessments, and preparation and reflection activities related to ZERO TO THREE Critical Competencies for Infant-Toddler Educators™.

The following summarizes the general criteria for the three types of ZERO TO THREE Trainer Certifications: (1) Provisional, (2) Full, and (3) Renewal.

Provisional Certification Criteria

  • Be a current approved early childhood trainer in your home state or country, or meet specified standards as an adult educator
  • Successfully participate in the ZERO TO THREE Training‐of‐Trainers, including passing required knowledge assessments
  • Sign the ZERO TO THREE Certified Trainer Agreement and Code of Practice and Ethics Statement

Full Certification Criteria

  • Be a current Provisionally Certified ZERO TO THREE Trainer
  • Complete the ZERO TO THREE full certification application
  • Successfully deliver specified curriculum since Provisional Certification award date

Renewal Certification Criteria

  • Be a Certified ZERO TO THREE Trainer
  • Complete the ZERO TO THREE renewal certification application
  • Be a current approved trainer in your home state or country, or meet specified standards as an adult educator
  • Successfully deliver specified curriculum since Full or Renewal Certification award date
  • Participate in at least one ZERO TO THREE trainer support event
  • Complete required clock hours of continuing education in the specified content since Full or Renewal Certification award date (total clock hours may include the ZERO TO THREE trainer support event)
  • Sign the ZERO TO THREE Certified Trainer Agreement and Code of Practice and Ethics Statement
