Transforming the World for Infant and Toddlers, One Gift at a Time
by Hannah Hawley, Development Manager for Individual Giving
As a nonprofit organization, ZERO TO THREE’s existence relies on funding from a variety of external sources—government, corporations, foundations, and YOU. Your membership dues and tax-deductible gifts to ZERO TO THREE are an important part of our development and operations, and they represent an increasing amount of our overall funding.
At ZERO TO THREE, our fundraising efforts secure the resources necessary to create parenting resources, run HealthySteps and Safe Babies Court Teams sites, create professional development materials, and operate a national nonprofit organization. For you and other individuals who so generously support our mission, it does so much more.
A tax deduction is a nice perk, sure. But that is not why we make gifts to ZERO TO THREE. Philanthropy creates an opportunity for us to create a brighter future for infants, toddlers, and their families. An opportunity to change the world. An opportunity to make a difference. This is what motivates individuals to give. Giving to an organization like ours achieves goals and dreams of making the world a better place. It also brings joy, knowing that you are making an impact.
Individual giving, much like ZERO TO THREE, is all about relationships. It is the heart of what I do. As a fundraiser, my number one priority is building relationships. I meet people and I listen deeply to their thoughts, concerns, and goals. I share with them the goals of ZERO TO THREE and how we are all working diligently every single day to achieve them. I develop their interests in achieving our mutual goals together.
To achieve transformational giving, you must bring inspirational ideas, and ZERO TO THREE is full of inspirational ideas. Transforming child welfare, transforming pediatric care, creating all of the critical, early connections that infants and toddlers need to be successful in life. Sharing these inspirational ideas with individuals who have the same desires and inviting them to be a part of our efforts is extremely rewarding, and I enjoy knowing the relationships I build with individuals are making an impact for babies and families.
