ZERO TO THREE Announces the Appointment of Two New Board Members
ZERO TO THREE welcome its new board members.
Washington, D.C. (May 7, 2020) — ZERO TO THREE, the leading nonprofit dedicated to ensuring babies and toddlers have a strong start in life, announced this week the appointment of Dr. Felicia DeHaney and Dr. Joy Osofsky to its Board of Directors.
“We are thrilled and honored to welcome Dr. DeHaney and Dr. Osofsky to our Board of Directors,” said Dr. Paul Spicer, Board President of ZERO TO THREE. “They are both true champions for babies and toddlers, and their work throughout the years has been a guiding force for the field of early childhood development. We look forward to their expertise and guidance elevating our work in the years to come.”
Dr. Felicia DeHaney is the Director of Program and Strategy of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, which works with communities to create conditions for vulnerable children so they can realize their full potential. She previously served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Black Child Development Institute and is one of the country’s leading experts on child development for children of color. Having worked as an early childhood and elementary school teacher early in her career, Dr. DeHaney has had a lifelong mission to advocate for America’s youngest and most vulnerable populations. Dr. DeHaney holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Howard University and an M.A. in Educational Psychology from Columbia University Teacher’s College.
Dr. Joy Osofsky is joining the ZERO TO THREE Board of Directors for the second time, having previously served as the organization’s President from 2003-06 and on the Board at large from 1986-2017. She is the Paul J. Ramsay Endowed Chair of Psychiatry and Barbara Lemann Professor of Child Welfare at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she is also a Director of the Harris Center for Infant Mental Health Center. Following Hurricane Katrina, Dr. Osofsky served as Clinical Director for Adolescent Services for Louisiana Spirit, and she was later honored with a Presidential Commendation from the American Psychiatric Association for her efforts. She is the Past President of the World Association for Infant Mental Health and was recognized with the Reginald Lourie Award for leadership in the field of infant mental health and outstanding contributions to the health and welfare of children and families in 2014. Dr. Osofsky holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in Psychology from Syracuse University.
