Even Start Family Literacy
Family Engagement resource information on state policies and initiatives that impact infants, toddlers and their families
Even Start provides family-centered literacy education services to parents and children from birth through age eight. Even Start Family Literacy programs are implemented through school-community partnerships, building on high-quality existing community resources that take part in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the project.“
Even Start Family Literacy Partnerships provide services to families that are of sufficient intensity and duration to make sustainable changes in a family. The services integrate:
- interactive literacy activities between parents and their children *training for parents regarding how to be the primary teacher for their children and full partners in the education of their children *parent literacy training that leads to economic self-sufficiency *an age-appropriate education to prepare children for success in school and life experiences *and home-based instructional services
