National Centers

ZERO TO THREE proudly serves as a core partner for several National Centers focused on providing critical supports for advancing early childhood development systems, practices and policies.

The impact of this work improves the lives of millions of babies and families nationwide and sets a higher standard of care in the early years. We’re thrilled to share highlights from 2024:

The National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching, and Learning (DTL) advances evidence-based, culturally and linguistically responsive practices to improve outcomes for children birth to age 5. It supports Head Start and child care programs with training, technical assistance and professional development systems to strengthen early learning nationwide.

During 2024, the center:

Trained 6,499 participants across 12 Head Start regions and hosted a 10-webinar series that reached 17,215 live attendees and 13,400 on-demand viewers.

Saw 35,491 completions of DTL courses through its Individualized Professional Development (iPD) Portfolio, Head Start’s learning management system offering 100+ courses.

Expanded its reach with 19,913 new mobile app subscribers and contributed 62 new resources to the Head Start website. DTL also engaged over 4,000 users in six MyPeers communities and 1,300 users on the Head Start Coaching Companion.

The Early Childhood Developmental Health Systems: Evidence to Impact Center is a program that supports states and communities to build early childhood systems that work to secure the health and well-being of young children and their families.

Shared evidence, strategies and resources focused on systems building and pediatrics transformation through a new quarterly newsletter and numerous webinars featuring insights from providers, systems experts, family leaders and government partners.

Expanded specialized and intensive technical assistance to state, territory, community and Tribal teams, including 151 community health centers, three Implementation Sites, and eight Transforming Pediatrics for Early Childhood Hubs.

The National Early Care and Education Workforce Center empowers state and local leaders to advance early care and education workforce policy through research-driven strategies. It focuses on improving compensation and career growth for early educators.

During 2024, the center:

Launched a model of intensive technical assistance called Action Research Partnerships.

Refined its research-to-practice model to focus on advancing equitable compensation and career advancement for early educators.

ZERO TO THREE is part of the new Tribal Home Visiting Resource Institute for Excellence (THRIVE) Center. This achievement reflects our expertise, dedication and unwavering commitment to supporting Tribal Home Visiting programs and the families they serve. The THRIVE Center will provide comprehensive, responsive and culturally grounded technical assistance to Tribal Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting grant recipients as they implement programs in 47 communities. In 2024, we also released Navigating Seasons of Change, which explores best practices in mental health services delivered under the home visiting umbrella. ‍
