Grounding Family and Child Well-Being Policies and Systems in Anti-Racist Principles and Strategies

To truly support all children and families, policy must be grounded in anti-racist principles and these systems and community-based organizations must integrate an anti-racist approach that undoes existing systemic and institutional racism.

The Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) and the National Infant-Toddler Court Program (ITCP) at ZERO TO THREE released a new resource Grounding Family and Child Well-Being Policies and Systems in Anti-Racist Principles and Strategies. This brief highlights principles and strategies that if implemented with an intentional focus on advancing equity and responding to communities, can support infant and toddler well-being and strengthen families with young children, consequently, preventing involvement in child welfare and other deep-end systems.

Webinar: An Anti-Racist Blueprint for Early Childhood Well-Being and Child Welfare Prevention

Studies show that through a policy package combining expanded prevention and kinship supports, that there are not only significant cost savings but also positive outcomes for children related to educational, health, social and economic outcomes.

To meaningfully support the health and well-being of all young children and their families, public systems must move forward with a coordinated approach that is grounded in anti-racist policies and principles, removing harmful policies that perpetuate inequities. In this webinar, presenters will highlight key strategies to advancing an anti-racist continuum of supports that can advance positive outcomes for children and their families. Specifically, in this webinar participants will learn:

  • Why and how taking an anti-racist approach to developing a continuum of support that promotes the health and well-being for children prenatal to three and their families.
  • Strategies and continuum-building efforts that are happening in states across the country.
  • Share their reflections on opportunities to leverage the ITCP to advance an anti-racist continuum of support.
