What the mission means to Julia
I do what I do every day to honor my mother. She forged her own path in a challenging world for a single woman raising a young child. Through her purpose and example, she gave me the strong start in life that guides my dedication to work that helps change the world for babies and their families in very real ways.
Professional Background
Julia has been a field leader at ZERO TO THREE for over 20 years helping to guide and grow its events and resources to serve the needs of the multidisciplinary early childhood field. She co-leads the work of the Professional Innovations team implementing transformative strategies to forward the impact of its suite of professional development trainings, a wide variety of critical resources featured in the ZERO TO THREE Bookstore, as well as the ZERO TO THREE LEARN Conference – gathering over 2,500 professionals annually to share information and research, discuss innovations, and network with top administrators, teachers, clinicians, adult educators, researchers and those involved in shaping policy and programs.
Julia also launched ZERO TO THREE’s Membership program in 2016, which provides early childhood professionals with cross-discipline perspectives, deep connections, content resources and premium experiences. Perks also include discounts for materials, monthly virtual events, and a supportive online community. Being a Member connects a community of professionals who all care deeply about serving babies and toddlers and their families.
Future Vision
For babies, it’s the connections between synapses—signals sent through the brain—that are strengthened through repeated positive experiences with parents and caregivers that provide the essentials they need to survive and thrive. For parents and caregivers, it’s the connection between one another and the strength they gain from a community committed to their success that provides the essential know-how and will to provide those experiences for babies. This is our most important purpose.
