Kalpana Miriyala, MD, is a ZERO TO THREE Fellow. She is an Assistant Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, West Virginia.
Dr. Miriyala completed her basic training in medicine and psychiatry through the University of Mumbai, India. She moved to the United States in 2002, completed her psychiatry residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI, in 2009. Following that, Dr. Miriyala spent nearly six years at a community mental health center in West Virginia, providing clinical care to children with a variety of severe mental illnesses in rural, underserved communities in and around Huntington. Dr. Miriyala is now an Assistant Professor at the Marshall University School of Medicine in Huntington, with an opportunity to work with medical students, psychiatry residents, and other trainees in clinical education, research and community outreach. She is also an active member of the local and national child psychiatry organizations and the state infant and toddler mental health association. Dr. Miriyala is excited to use the resources offered by the fellowship towards improving resources available for the littlest victims scarred by the scourge of drug use that is prevalent in this community.
