Mary Margaret Gleason, M.D., FAAP, is a pediatrician and child and adolescent psychiatrist. She is the Chief of Early Childhood, Training and Education in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Boston Children’s Hospital.
She was formerly the Division Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Vice Chief of Mental Health at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. Dr. Gleason is also a Board Member of ZERO TO THREE.
Dr. Gleason specializes in the mental health care of young children and their families, especially in non-mental health settings. Her academic research focuses on the early identification of childhood mental health disorders and improving access to care. She developed and validated the Early Childhood Screening Assessment, which has now been tested in five different languages and cultural settings. Dr. Gleason has worked closely with state public health leaders to develop federally funded programs that offer mental health consultation to pediatric clinicians, early interventionists, and perinatal healthcare clinicians.
Honored to hold national positions in both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Dr. Mary Margaret Gleason has collaborated closely with these organizations to advance best practices for young children. Her commitment to medical education is evident in her leadership as training director at Tulane and Brown Universities. She participated in the Diagnostic Criteria: 0-5 with ZERO TO THREE’s work group and co-led ZERO TO THREE’s Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Workgroup.
