Muhammad Zeshan, MD, is a ZERO TO THREE Fellow. He is a Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).
Dr. Muhammad Zeshan is Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) in Newark, NJ where he provides psychiatric consultation to pediatric services. He is also the Co-Director for NJMS medical student psychiatry course.
Dr. Zeshan is an international medical graduate (IMG) from Pakistan. He completed his psychiatry residency training from Mount Sinai Bronx-Care Hospital, followed by a child psychiatry fellowship at Harvard Medical School-Boston Children’s Hospital. In addition, he completed a two-year Infant-Parent-Mental Health (IPMH) Fellowship at UMass Boston, and Newborn Behavioral Observation Training at Brazelton Institute in Boston, MA.
During his training, Dr. Zeshan received more than 10 regional and national awards for his academic excellence, leadership, teaching, and scholarly work. He served as the American Psychiatry Association (APA) Diversity Leadership Fellow, APA Council on Medical Education and Lifelong Learning, and American Association of Directors of Psychiatry Residency Training (AADPRT) Nyapati Rao & Francis Lu IMG Fellow. He currently serves on the APA ECP (Early Career Psychiatrist) Committee, WPA (World Psychiatry Association) ECP Committee, and AACAP (American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry) Infant & Pre-School Committee.
Dr. Zeshan has published two book chapters and 13 peer reviewed articles. He has presented workshops at national and international conferences. He is the co-guest editor for Psychiatry Annals Journal on a special issue entitled “Angels in the Nursery: Empowering clinicians in perinatal, infant, and preschool mental health.” In collaboration with his mentor Dr. Harrison, Dr. Zeshan piloted the first IPMH training for midwives and other healthcare staff in Pakistan.
