Tammy Mann, PhD, is the former President and CEO of The Campagna Center. She has been a member of the ZERO TO THREE Board of Directors since 2018 and currently serves as vice president.
Contributions to the Field
Dr. Mann has worked at the national, state, and local levels for nearly 35 years, focusing on addressing the needs of children and families, especially those living in economically and socially challenged environments. A practitioner at heart, Dr. Mann has long been interested in translating research into practice effectively. She was president and CEO of The Campagna Center, an organization that provides cradle-to-career education and social development services to more than 2,000 children, teens, and adults in Alexandria. Before her work at The Campagna Center, she served as executive director of the Frederick Patterson Research Institute and as deputy executive director at ZERO TO THREE. She consults with foundations and nonprofit organizations committed to working in the service of young children.

Recognition and Thought Leadership
Dr. Mann has authored and coauthored a variety of articles, monographs, and edited books, including Child Psychology and Mental Health: Cultural and Ethno-Racial Perspectives: Volume 1: African American Children’s Mental Health: Development and Context and Volume 2: African American Children’s Mental Health: Prevention, Intervention and Social Policy.
A former consulting editor for Young Children, she has also served as a Public Policy Fellow with the American Psychological Association and held adjunct and affiliate appointments at Howard University and George Mason University, respectively.
Dr. Mann has served on several boards and advisory committees, including as past president of the National Association for the Education of Young Children; board member of the Foundation for Child Development; vice president of the Virginia Board of Education; board member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce; and chair of the Collaborative Commission on Children, Youth and Families for the City of Alexandria.
In 2019, she was named a Visionary Leader by the Washington Area Women’s Foundation, and in 2020, she was named Business Leader of the Year by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce.
