Early childhood experts warn that babies, toddlers and their families are at risk of seeing disruptions in services following the Trump Administration’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directive to freeze federal grants, loans and assistance.
Matthew Melmed, executive director of ZERO TO THREE, the country’s leading nonprofit working to ensure all babies and toddlers have a strong start in life, stated:
“Though the full scope of the OMB review and funding freeze remains unclear, the Administration’s confusing directives could disrupt services and make life more expensive and stressful for infants, toddlers and their families. Together with our partners, we are working to better understand what OMB’s directive will mean so we can continue to stand strong for babies. Disruptions in services will raise costs for ordinary Americans and hurt our economy, our communities and our families. We must ensure critical programs and services supporting America’s babies and toddlers are not disrupted.”
