Successful Early Childhood Home Visitation State Systems
This webinar, sponsored by the ZERO TO THREE Policy Center, focused on successful early childhood home visitation state systems across the country that are expanding high-quality home visiting services for families and young children.
The webinar highlighted four states’ (Colorado, New Jersey, Virginia and Washington) innovative components of home visitation systems and discussed state planning efforts for the home visiting funds designated by the recently-passed Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. A new state self-assessment tool from ZERO TO THREE will be released in conjunction with the webinar.
A growing body of evidence demonstrates that home visitation can be an effective method of delivering family support and child development services. As opportunities to grow home visiting programs present themselves, such as the new federal home visiting grant program, strong and collaborative home visiting state systems provide the infrastructure to support high quality assessment, programming and model fidelity. This tool, developed by ZERO TO THREE, helps states define the home visiting system; assess the home visiting system’s capacity; and prioritize areas for improvement.
One-Page Descriptions of Model States: Colorado, New Jersey, Virginia and Washington
These one-page state descriptions profile basic information about model state systems in four states. Areas highlighted include: definition of home visiting, models represented in state, number of families served, objectives of the state system, administrative structure, funding and system strengths.
