Safe Babies States and Sites

Igniting collective action across states and communities to meet the urgent needs of babies and toddlers

Our states and sites are tailoring elements of the team-based Safe Babies approach to suit the unique needs of their community. This helps build evidence-informed strategies that can be replicated and tested for continuous quality improvement in scaling the approach nationwide.

A National Glimpse

Safe Babies, a program of ZERO TO THREE™, works with over 100 sites to implement a variety of approaches to support infants and toddlers in the child welfare system. This includes setting up teams at both community and state levels to incorporate developmentally informed strategies in dependency court settings. We focus on aligning solutions with courts, child welfare systems, and other agencies to expand and strengthen infrastructure capacity. This allows infants, toddlers, and families access to the timely, equitable and evidence-informed services they need related to parenting, child development, and behavioral health.
