Being Present With Your Story

Look in the mirror and think about who's looking back at you.

Luisa Soaterna-Castañeda is the Director of Program Management and Technology for the National Center on Early Childhood Development, Teaching and Learning (NCECDTL) at ZERO TO THREE. Luisa talks about how her experiences as a Latina, a child immigrant, a mother to a dual language learner, and a wife to someone who has faced challenges because of his appearance all shape her perspectives and approaches to her work supporting early childhood professionals. As a leader in the Information Technology field, she often interacts with others who come to the table with different backgrounds and cultures and encourages everyone to share their own unique stories. And while the world is unpredictable and there is a lot that is out of our control, Luisa believes each person’s own agency makes the biggest impact on their life and those around them.
