In Vermont, partners in the Transforming Pediatrics for Early Childhood (TPEC) program are strengthening pediatric care through the Developmental Understanding and Legal Collaboration for Everyone (DULCE) model. Through TPEC, Vermont partners have expanded DULCE to three new pediatric sites while supporting five existing sites. DULCE specialists work alongside pediatric care teams during well-child visits to help families access developmental, medical, social, and legal services.
In this video, Vermont TPEC partners also share how they are elevating family voices to ensure pediatric care reflects families’ experiences and priorities. Through a statewide family advisory council, family leaders provide guidance on program implementation, quality improvement, and resource development. Listening sessions with families and care team members have also highlighted the value of DULCE in building trust, strengthening confidence, and creating more positive experiences with pediatric care.
In Vermont, combining comprehensive services with meaningful family partnership is helping create a stronger network of support for young children and their families.
