Head of the Early Neurodevelopment and Mental Health Team, Telethon Kids Institute

Amy Finlay-Jones, BPsych (Hons), MClinPsych, MHealthEcon, PhD is the Head of the Early Neurodevelopment and Mental Health Team at the Telethon Kids Institute in Perth, Western Australia and a Healthway WA Senior Research Fellow.

Dr. Finlay-Jones is a registered psychologist and health economist, and her research interests and expertise span the spectrum of clinical research through to health systems research, policy development, and economic evaluation. Her research focuses on promoting more equitable mental health and developmental outcomes for infants and young children.  Dr. Finlay-Jones is interested in the design and implementation of accessible, culturally secure, and empowering infant mental health services and systems. This work spans three key areas: (1) collaborating with families and community partners to identify infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) priorities; (2) designing and trialling IECMH screening and support approaches; and (3) using economic and implementation science frameworks to accelerate the translation of evidence into policy and practice.

Her intention is to ensure that families of infants and young children – particularly those from underrepresented groups – are involved in shaping the programs, systems and policies that affect them.
