Early Childhood Mental Health System Coordinator, Minnesota Department of Human Services

Catherine Wright, PsyD, is a ZERO TO THREE Fellow. She is currently a Minnesota Department of Human Services Early Childhood Mental Health System Coordinator.

In her role at the State of Minnesota, Dr. Wright is responsible for the policy and systems work related to developing and managing an early childhood mental health system of care throughout the State of Minnesota. This work entails providing training throughout the State on evidenced-based interventions for young children and families, aligning Medicaid policy with evidenced-based interventions and techniques, and integrating early childhood mental health services in child serving agencies. Her research interests include understanding the parenting and clinical needs of caregivers with serious mental illness. Dr. Wright is currently working with other state agencies to align adult mental health and chemical dependency service systems with the State’s early childhood mental health system to ensure access to effective two generational approaches for young children and their families. She has a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Thomas and is licensed as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. She is seeking licensure as a Licensed Psychologist in Minnesota. In addition to her state work, Dr. Wright provides psychological assessments and treatment to young children and families in a clinic part-time. She is certified in the following evidenced-based interventions: Attachment Bio-Behavioral Catch-Up (ABC), Trauma Informed-Child Parent Psychotherapy (TI-CPP), and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She has over 25 years of experience providing direct children’s mental health services and managing children’s mental health programs and systems.
