Ruth Esther Hernández is a community engagement and early childhood practitioner with more than eight years of experience across early childhood education, community engagement, health and organizing.
Hernández’s earlier work includes health services and research, as well as advancing food and health justice through grantmaking, coalition-building and policy initiatives. Their work centers on community leadership and culturally rooted approaches to addressing the social, cultural and environmental conditions that shape family well-being.
Hernández holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and educational studies from Denison University. Their approach is informed by critical pedagogy, developmental psychology and relationship-centered practice, as well as their Afro-Caribbean heritage and growing up in Puerto Rico and New York City.
