Sandhyaa Iyengar, MD, MPH, areas of focus are diagnostic evaluations and ongoing care for children with developmental disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder; developmental monitoring for young children presenting with delays; and genetic conditions, including Down syndrome.
Dr. Iyengar’s research interests revolve around the impact of adverse childhood experiences on developmental outcomes. Her ventures include establishing a multidisciplinary clinic for children with ASD to address overweight/obesity through family collaboration, as well as a community health worker program to provide psychosocial and practical support to families with a new diagnosis of ASD in their young child.
Since 2019, Dr. Iyengar has served on the Pennsylvania State Interagency Coordinating Council for Early Intervention. She also enjoys her role as an educator working alongside medical students, residents, and fellows. And she remains passionate about community initiatives focused on improving equity of care, as well as family-based programming designed to enhance children’s social and emotional well-being.
