Primary P-5 Competency Domains

Essential skills for professionals in all disciplines working with young children and their families.

The ZERO TO THREE Competencies for Prenatal to Age 5 (P-5) Professionals™ (P-5 Competencies) provide a universal set of competencies necessary for all prenatal-5 service providers, supervisors, and managers. The P-5 Competencies frame all of ZERO TO THREE’s professional development offerings, including the LEARN Conference. Each LEARN Conference session is labeled with the primary P-5 Competencies domain its content covers.

Four Unique Ways to LEARN

With four unique session types to choose from, fully curate your LEARN Conference experience in a way that matches your early childhood professional development goals.

Poster Presentations

Poster Presentations use text and graphics to share a concise visual presentation of research concepts and questions, studies, and/or findings; or the story of field knowledge, models, processes or other implementation projects, and/or lessons learned.

Poster Presentations will be displayed throughout the LEARN Conference with live Q&A during the lunch break each day.

Baby Talks

Baby Talk presentations summarize one powerful idea in the early childhood space and tee-up one related question for consideration or discussion. 

Each Baby Talk group begins with 30-minutes of three back-to-back presentations, followed by 30-minutes of discussion among the presenters and session participants. 

Lecture Sessions

Lecture Sessions present new information or evolving understandings about a specific topic, process, or issue.

Lecture Sessions provide 60-minutes of content presentation or information sharing, with Q&A incorporated.

Issue Intensives

Issue Intensives have a deep dive focus on an early childhood topic, process or issue and include opportunities for learners to explore ways to use and apply the content in their work. 

Issue Intensives include a mixture of presentation/information sharing to set context and interactive activities.

Issue Intensives are delivered in 2-parts, each 60 minutes for 120 minutes (2 hours).

Pre-Conference Forums & Programming

Serious about making a difference? We have just the thing! Our Pre-Conference Programming provides multiple options to expand your LEARNing before the Conference the deep dive into the hottest topics in early childhood you're looking for. Choose from an on-site DC:0-5 Clinical Training or one of two Pre-Conference Forums that give you the time and space to roll up your sleeves, go a little deeper, take away impactful strategies you can immediately apply to your practice.
